How to access help at The Belfrey

Free debt advice

We partner with the award-winning national charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to deliver a free debt advice service to people struggling with unmanageable debt.

For more information and to get help yourself, see here or call 0800 328 0006.

Emergency food

Each Saturday we partner with York Foodbank to run a food distribution session at the De Grey Rooms from 10am till 12pm. This is to provide emergency food for local people in crisis, and a welcoming place to sit and talk with members of our team. You’ll need to have a voucher issued to you in order to access this service. You can find out how to get a voucher here.

Affordable counselling

Affordable, professional counselling is available to anyone aged 18+ in York through our Wellspring Counselling Centre at the De Grey Rooms. You can find out more and make a self-referral here.

Support for families

Our family support service in partnership with Safe Families UK will be launching soon.

Cooking and lifeskills

Our Let's Cook group supports people in learning how to cook healthy meals using a slow cooker, as well as developing other lifeskills. The people we work with mostly have had or are going through difficult circumstances in their lives. We meet on a Thursday and run as a 12 session course. Attendance is by referral from a support worker or other professional.
