A joyful service of carols, worship and celebrating Jesus’ birth in York Minster
Are you free on Saturday 25 October? If so it would be great if you could pass by or help out at our fundraiser at St Crux (near The Shambles) for a shift anytime between 8.30am-4.30pm. We'll be running a cafe and bake sale with homemade cakes, plus selling our new Capturing York 2026 calendars and Christmas cards, together with wooden Christmas decorations and merchandise!
We're raising funds towards our work, including mission and social transformation. We're looking for people to help serve or sell on the day, or bake some lovely cakes. See here to sign up to volunteer or bake. Email fundraising@belfrey.org for further details. Thank you!
We are once again asking people if they'd be up for hosting a meal to welcome some of our new people at The Belfrey. If you've been around at The Belfrey for a while and have a space in your home where you can host a meal for a small group of people who are new to church and want to become part of our family, we are inviting you to be part of this.
We will match you with some guests, and will send a staff member to join you - they will be in charge of looking after the guests. All you have to provide is the table and the food - and maybe some good background music!
This Connect Week will be Sunday 21st to Sunday 28th of September.
You could host a meal at any time of the week and any time of day, and you'll be able to claim some of your costs back after the meal if you'd like to. Head to belfrey.org/host to sign up to host a Connect Meal this July.
Kintsugi Hope is a UK charity that partners with the local church to support people with their mental and emotional wellbeing through a programme of Wellbeing Groups. We will be running our own Wellbeing Group at The Well Prayer House between 5pm and 6.30pm. The group will run for 12 weeks, beginning on September 17th.
We would love for you to invite those you know at work, or in your area, to come along and receive some tools to help with worry, stress, resilience and more.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, you can get in touch at zoe.king@belfrey.org.
Come join us for Belfrey Messy Church. A space for families to gather together for fun, for creative activities, crafts and conversations whatever your faith background. There is no cost, just come along for some fun on a Sunday afternoon.
We’d love to be encouraging our Belfrey families to be inviting friends along, particularly those who might not have any faith background.
Do you have an eye for photography? We’re inviting you to send in your best images of York and enter our ‘Capturing York’ Photography Competition!
We’re looking for your images of York’s landmarks and landscapes across the seasons, to feature in a Belfrey 2026 Fundraising Calendar, as well as beautiful wintry or Christmassy shots for a charity Christmas card.
Find out more here and don’t forget to enter by this date!!
Running for 10 weeks starting on Wednesday 30th April, we are excited to be running a new Alpha course this summer term, this time in the afternoons. Aimed at those who might struggle with evenings, such as those who are retired, students or parents who find childcare difficult, this course will run each week from 1:30pm until around 2:30pm.
Alpha is a series of conversations that looks into questions of life, faith and God. Each week you’ll join an in person group and watch a 25 minute video on various topics exploring the Christian faith, then afterwards chat with others and have honest and open discussions. Topics can vary from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?
Contact claire.elwood@belfrey.org for more information or to express your interest in joining.

Alpha is a 10-week course run on Tuesday evenings, where we hear about one of life's big questions and have the chance to ask some of our own in a safe and welcoming environment. Weaving in the hope of Jesus, this is a great course to attend if you are new to Christianity or curious about it. Everyone is welcome, whether you're attending by yourself or with a group! Attending this Launch Night doesn't mean you have to do the whole course - just come and have a taste!
