Love Your Neighbour project days

We had a great time going out as a church community, into the community, gardening and decorating for those in York who could do with a bit of extra help. Over three weekends in June, four project teams decorated rooms in two houses, and transformed the front and back garden for another family. Four new home packs were given by our church community too , to bless those moving into empty houses.

Reflections from this year’s project volunteers :

  • On meeting the family on one of the decorating projects after meeting them earlier in their day job (R). “You couldn’t make it up”…I’m so in awe, no-one else (God) could orchestrate that, and to be able to continue this amazing witness, that they might ask what I was doing there and what’s church. It’s another layer to his faithfulness”

  • At the end of the gardening project (C): “I felt quite choked up to see their happy faces when they saw the result. Btw, they didn't realise they had six bikes altogether! 😆We didn't expect thanks, but they thanked us. Great job satisfaction. PTL!”

  • “Besom has been doing an amazing job to get people connected and provide excellent flexibility for the volunteers to give their support as much comfortable and best as they could. As a mother in her maternity leave, I feel the program helps me alot to get back into the community and connect to people, it isn't only about helping the families and neighbors in need. Definitely would love to serve again next year.” (Y)
