Love Your Neighbour project day
We’ve had a great time going out as a church community, into the community, gardening and decorating for those in York who could do with a bit of extra help over the last few years, and we now have a date for 2026 too.
Saturday 13th June 2026
More information will be put out on this page as we get closer to the summer, but please be thinking prayerfully about how you might get involved:
praying for the volunteers and recipients
making “new home” packs (like Christmas hampers but for those starting in a new home from scratch)
donate towards the cost of paint for decorating projects
volunteering on the 13th June to decorate, garden or clean.
come as a Belfrey Group
come as a group of friends
come on your own and we’ll put you together with other people

Reflections from last year’s project volunteers :
On meeting the family on one of the decorating projects after meeting them earlier in their day job (R). “You couldn’t make it up”…I’m so in awe, no-one else (God) could orchestrate that, and to be able to continue this amazing witness, that they might ask what I was doing there and what’s church. It’s another layer to his faithfulness”
At the end of the gardening project (C): “I felt quite choked up to see their happy faces when they saw the result. Btw, they didn't realise they had six bikes altogether! 😆We didn't expect thanks, but they thanked us. Great job satisfaction. PTL!”
“Besom has been doing an amazing job to get people connected and provide excellent flexibility for the volunteers to give their support as much comfortable and best as they could. As a mother in her maternity leave, I feel the program helps me alot to get back into the community and connect to people, it isn't only about helping the families and neighbors in need. Definitely would love to serve again next year.” (Y)
