Social Transformation Update

Counselling at The Belfrey

At The Belfrey, we run a low-cost counselling service in partnership with Wellspring, which is open to all adults living within the City of York Council area. Our team of counsellors is experienced in supporting people who are finding life difficult or who would like greater clarity about their situation. We offer each client up to 20 counselling sessions.

We are currently expanding the service and have opened a second counselling room. We now have nine counsellors, five of whom are fully qualified, while the others are on placement with us. We are also in the process of recruiting additional counsellors.

At the moment, our waiting list is short, so if you are thinking about counselling, or perhaps have been putting off seeking support, now is a great time to access the service. To self-refer, or for more information about counselling at The Belfrey, please click here to view our updated webpage.

A couple of recent testimonies from clients:

"I had enough of feeling hopeless and down. The counselling room was a lovely environment. I felt welcomed and supported, my counsellor was welcoming and understanding, and she helped me process my thoughts and to be kinder to myself. I have learned coping mechanisms and not letting the negative win as much."

"What a lovely, compassionate, and friendly counsellor. Very empathetic and caring. We had an instant connection, and they made me feel at ease and calm. The counsellor helped me process my thoughts and try not to catatrophise as much. I feel I have improved. The counsellor was understanding, listened, and cared about my feelings."
