CAP Befrienders

CAPs mission is to bring life changing freedom and good news to people in desperate need and help them on their journey out of debt. This is through Debt Centres, with teams of Debt Coaches, and Befrienders. In York, this is under the Foodbank, through multiple partner churches.

Befrienders are people who have a passion for community. Being in debt can come with isolation for our clients. Befrienders are key to building relationships in a non-judgmental manner. They accompany Debt Coaches during home visits, offering prayer, emotional and practical support outside of visits.

At the Belfrey, there is currently one Debt Coach, two in training, and three Befrienders. We are so grateful for all they do.

We ask you to consider volunteering with CAP as a Befriender, supporting those in need, and helping to tackle one of the causes of hunger in our city. Please email capservices@york.foodbank.org.uk to learn more.
