The Belfrey partners with York Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to offer free debt support in York through home visits. The Belfrey CAP team has already helped people become debt-free from nearly £200,000 of debt. Anyone needing help can call 0800 328 0006 or visit the CAP website (https://capuk.org) to book an appointment, and if you would like to help or volunteer as a befriender, click the giving button.

CAP York is always interested in taking on new befrienders, who accompany a debt coach during home visits, offering words of encouragement to the individuals who often feel hopeless, guided by the Holy Spirit and within safeguarding guidelines, you can offer emotional and practical support outside visits.
the main role requirements:
having in your heart God’s desire to gently but with power transform lives of people living with debt
being available a few hours a month during “office hours”
