Hello Church!

We’re so excited to have established this Eco Advisory Group here at St Michael le Belfrey. We’re a group of enthusiastic individuals, passionate about sustainability, climate justice, and caring for God’s wonderful creation. We know that this journey toward more sustainable practices can be challenging, both in our personal lives and as a Church, but we also know it is joyful and exciting work. And most importantly, it is work that God invites us to do with Him.

We're very glad to be working with you all on this and we are always open to suggestions, so please don’t hesitate to contact us via the contact form below.

James Congreve-Horn

James is the assistant curate at the Belfrey with an interest in realising the biblical worldview God has and how that forms a basis for eco justice, sustainability and tackling climate change.

Ian Anderson

Ian has been a member of St. Michael-le-Belfrey since David Watson was here and is passionate about doing his bit for the environment whilst there is still time.

Suzanna Frazer

Suzanna is a big-time member of St Michael Le Belfrey with interests in ecology, climate change and packaging sustainability.

Al Elmes

Al is the Creative Media Manager at the Belfrey and is passionate about helping our church engage with the climate emergency.

Tony Scott

Since retiring in 2009 as Chief Architect at Leeds City Council, where he took the Management Team lead in sustainability and had been involved in
projects which received national sustainability awards, he has concentrated on lowering his own carbon footprint by making his own home, and those of his two daughters, as Eco friendly as possible.

Cathryn Fergie

Cathryn has been worshipping at The Belfrey since 2011 and is a member of the 11am congregation. She wants to help others see what small differences they can make to live more sustainably for God's glory.

Ian Dawson

Ian Dawson worships at the Belfrey and is a researcher of farming and forestry, mostly in a development setting.

Daniel Brookes

Daniel has been a member of St Michael's for over 40 years and is one of the church Wardens. He works as a Facilities manager and is responsible for the council's EcoDepot.

As a member of the Impact Board he is keen to ensure that the church is fully eco friendly and sustainable.

As part of our journey to become a more sustainable Church, we are using the Eco-Church award scheme, by A Rocha UK. We’re happy to say we have already achieved the Bronze award and are now working towards the Silver Award.
