Dear Church Family
It was good to be able to finally announce last weekend the appointment of our new Associate Minister, who will be joining us in the coming months! This will be Andy Baker. Andy is currently Acting Vicar or St Mark's Haydock, a large Anglican church in the Diocese of Liverpool. Before that Andy was a curate in Liverpool and he's also been a Youth Pastor in Sale, following our previous curate Al Rycroft. Andy is married to Hayley and they have a two year old son called Ezra. The Bakers will be living in Muncastergate in Heworth and they're really looking forward to join the team. Andy says that he enjoys movies, graphic design and baking, as well as watching CBeebies with Ezra! Please be praying for them as they prepare to move to York.
Please also be aware that we have the York Marathon running through the centre of York this Sunday. So instead of our usual 9am and 11am Services, we'll be hosting a cafe at the front of church, where we'll be cheering on the runners and serving refreshments to their families and supporters. The aim is for us to provide a vibrant centre of fun and celebration on Sunday morning, serving our city in a very practical way. If you're able to get into the city on Sunday morning, please do join us and help serving refreshments and chatting with people. Often all sorts of conversations open up, enabling us chat about our church, about Jesus, about the upcoming Alpha course, and more. There's alway a great buzz, so do join us.
That means our only service in church this Sunday will be The6, which will be a service of Holy Communion. I will continue our series on Bible Reading as we think about 'Training in the Word of God.'
Finally, do also be thinking about who you might invite to our next Alpha course, which begins soon in The Belfrey Hall. This will be an afternoon course (from 2.30pm-4pm) on Wednesdays. As you probably know, Alpha helps explain what it means to follow Jesus and using film, food and small group discussion, it's a place where questions can be asked and the meaning of life explored. To find out more, do contact Mike Perkins. If you, or a friend would like to sign up to come, you/they can do so by clicking here.
Have a great weekend!
