Dear Church Family
It seems like the Lord is answering our prayers that people will be encountering him. We're collecting lots of wonderful stories, especially of people who are encountering him for the first time and giving their lives to him. In order to see even more, there's something you and I can do that's very simple and very helpful. That's invite people to church. It's as simple as that. We just invite. Because the more we invite, the more will come. And some of them will stay and decide to follow Jesus.
We have the ideal invitation opportunity coming up very soon, as on Sunday 5th November we'll be having Invitation Services across the day. It's been a while since 5th November (traditionally 'Bonfire Night') has fallen on a Sunday, so we're taking the opportunity to have a Guy Fawkes theme at our services, making the most of the day and remembering Mr Fawkes, one of our most famous parishioners, who was baptised in St Michael le Belfrey Church in 1570. So do pick up some invitations from church this Sunday and invite friends and neighbours this week to join you in church on November 5th.
We're also seeing all sorts of other prayers answered too. Just this week I'm aware of prayers for healing, for financial provision and an urgent practical need that have been answered. When I spoke a few weeks ago on prayer (as we celebrated harvest) we looked at Psalm 65, which is a psalm that begins praising God as 'you who answer prayer' (v2). The Lord is so kind and longs to hear our prayers even more than we long to pray them. So let's be calling out to him individually and together. In particular please do join us, with your Belfrey Group, in church for our upcoming Evening of Prayer on Thursday 16th November at 7.30pm. (If you missed the talk from Psalm 65, or want to hear it again, you can do so by clicking here).
Finally, don't forget that this weekend the clocks change and go back one hour. If you can, enjoy an extra hour's sleep!
