Dear Church Family
As we approach what's traditionally known as Holy Week and then Easter weekend, may I encourage us all to do something to mark the season in our homes. You might, for example: put up fairy lights; make up a basket of Easter things and put it in your front window; bring in some branches and make an Easter tree; display a cross and decorate it; create an Easter garden, or make a banner that says 'Easter' or 'Christ is risen'. This visual reminder of this wonderful season will not only encourage you and your family but will be a witness to your neighbours and maybe a talking point too. For many people in our nation, Easter is a festival with no meaning, but for the Christ-follower the death and resurrection of Jesus is the very centre of our faith! Easter is such a great opportunity to point to the wonder of Christ!
To help us remember all that Christ has done for us, this year at The Belfrey there's an opportunity every day from Palm Sunday through to Easter Sunday to gather and worship. For more details, click here. In particular you might like to join us on Good Friday, either for the Family Service at 10am, or for all or part of 3 Hours at the Cross from 12noon-3pm. As usual we also have two celebration services on Easter Day - the first at 6.30am followed by breakfast in the Belfrey Hall, and then a church family communion service at 10.30am. On Easter Saturday we'll be welcoming the city and tourists into church with music and short half-hour reflections on the meaning of Easter whilst serving refreshments. Do come and join us if you can and especially come and chat to guests and make them welcome. Often the most lovely conversations open up with the opportunity to pray for people and show them the love of Christ.
Finally, don't forget to change your clocks this weekend! They spring forward at this time of year, so do move them ahead one hour on Saturday night, ready for Sunday morning.
May you and your loved ones know the amazing grace of Christ more deeply and profoundly this Holy Week and Easter season.
