Dear Church Family
There's lots to give thanks for, and much to pray about at the moment, in the life of our church. Here are a few things:
Do give thanks for the Prayer Course that we've just started as a church and is running through our Belfrey Groups for the next 6 weeks. I hope you're finding it helpful, now we're coming to the end of week 2. Don't forget, if you miss one of the weeks, or you're not in a Belfrey Group, you can access the weekly material online - by clicking here.
It's great to have Greg Downes back with us this week, along with a team of 9 from Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, leading us in a Mission Week. As well as being involved in regular events and services during the week, they are on the streets and using all sorts of opportunities to share the good news of Jesus. If you can, do join them on the forecourt of St Michael le Belfrey Church on Saturday (16th March) between 11am and 2pm for worship, prayer and outreach. The week ends with guest services across the day this Sunday (17th March), so please be praying about who to invite, and let's be praying for a good response as Greg preaches.
Here's an update from Gillian Shepherd, our Impact Project Manager:
'Thank you for all your prayers for the Impact project in recent days. 5 Architects have now been shortlisted and they are Dow Jones, LDN Architects, Purcell, Simpson & Brown and Steyn Studio with Anthony Grimshaw Associates. Members of the Board - Matthew, Rob and Gillian - held a briefing session with them on Tuesday 12 March which included an explanation of why we want the reordering and a tour of the church building. Very importantly a showing of the 2018 video of church life gave them a better insight into St Michael le Belfrey as a faith-filled, prayerful, dynamic church family. Architects will now work up initial designs and submit their tenders on 7 May. The church family will have the opportunity to view those designs in church from Saturday 11 May to Friday 17 May. More about this and the project as a whole will be shared by Gillian, and the board, at the Family Day on Sunday 7 April.'
So please keep praying for Impact.
I do hope you have the next Church Family Day in your diary - which is coming up on Sunday 7th April. We'll be gathering as a church family from 2pm-6pm, and the afternoon will include time for our Annual Meeting, some short talks on various topics, tea and a short service, as well as the Youth Bus and things for children. Further details will be published next week, and please pray that it's a great day as we enjoy time together.
Let's keep praying for each other, especially those who are ill in our church, perhaps stuck at home, and those who have loved ones who are nearing the end of their lives. It's all part of being church family together.
Finally, thank you to the many who sent me kind birthday greetings last weekend for my 50th Birthday. I was very touched by the kind messages and the many prayers.
