Dear Church Family
It was great seeing Rosie, Chloe and Susie go under the baptismal waters last weekend on Pentecost Sunday, as they said goodbye to their old life and welcomed the new life we're given in Christ! Baptism is such a visible expression of our faith. It speaks of our personal identification with Jesus and also of our shared life as disciples together, as we're baptised into the family of God.
There are a number of pictures used in the New Testament to describe church, and one of them is family (see 1 Timothy 5:1-2). No-one is called to follow Jesus on their own, but rather we're meant to do so in community. We travel together on the exciting and exhilarating journey of discipleship. That's why our Belfrey Groups are central to our church fellowship, as we share life together. And that's why the Church Family Days, which we've been having over the last few months, are also important.
The next Church Family Day is coming up soon - on Sunday 30th June from 1.30pm to 6pm in St Michael le Belfrey Church. There'll be lots going on, including eating together as we enjoy a barbecue! So do make sure the date is in your diary. You can find out more about the day an, book a ticket for the BBQ (which is £3) by visiting: belfrey.or/bbq
Our church family is ever changing - as we grow and give, serve and send, encourage and equip, care and create, praise and pray, lead and love. Please keep praying for us, and thank you to each of us for the part we play in our family. Together, as we're guided by the Holy Spirit, we can impact our city and region with the transformative good news of Jesus. Together we can be a family serving God's transformation of the North.
