Wydale Hall is looking for volunteers to join their management team. For more details please see below
You will hopefully have noticed that the bookstall at the back of church is now stocking a number of books recommended for each sermon series, along with other Christian books to help you to grow in your faith and inspire you.
Up until now, the main way to buy books has been to put cash in the envelopes on the bookstall, which can be a bit frustrating! So we’re now developing a small team of people to staff the bookstall at the end of each service on the first Sunday of every month. We’ll have a contactless machine so you can pay by card, and we'll also have cash available to give you any change for books you want to buy that way. We could still do with a few more people to join the team, so if you’re interested in getting involved and are happy to use a tablet and contactless machine (training will be provided!), do get in touch with Cathryn Fergie on firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. We can also order books for you via these emails.
Finally a plea - the bookstall is for book purchases and isn't a library, so please don't borrow books and then put them back! If you've bought a book and enjoyed it do pass it on to others but don't put it back on the bookstall. This will really help our stock control; as we have to purchase all books outright rather than on sale or return it will prevent us losing money. Thanks!
We have been encouraging the Belfrey to come to New Wine United Week 1 where many of our church will be serving and leading. This week is now fully booked, but if you'd still like to go to New Wine there's always Week 2. Some of the Belfrey family will be there.
York Neighbours is a young vibrant local charity supporting over 65’s in York. It is highly appreciated,
and has recently been validated with a substantial National Lottery Grant. We need a new treasurer
because the present person is moving out of the City.
The Treasurer is a full Trustee and attends the 5 bimonthly evening meetings per year, plus the Annual
General Meeting. There are sometimes additional meetings arranged for specific tasks. The treasurer
provides regular updates of expenditure and income along with budget comparisons and should be
able to explain them to the other Trustees. There is regular communication by e-mail and phone with
the (currently four) employed staff and trustees as required.
The treasurer is responsible for the production of the annual accounts and works with an independent examiner to verify them. They are the point of contact with York CVS who produce the payroll for the members of staff, but also work closely with the Trustee with responsibility for Human Resources (HR). The treasurer has responsibility for setting up the electronic bank payments, which are normally for invoices and payroll and ensuring that they are authorised by one of the other approved persons.
We are looking for someone with accountancy gifts and a passion for the charity.
See www.yorkneighbours.org.uk and email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01904891627 for more
Come and join us as we read the Bible together in St Michael le Belfrey! Each Wednesday between 11am and noon we will be publicly reading through the word, as a way of sharing it with others and reading it ourselves.
Andy Williams is looking for a new place to live, from the end of May to August, central to the city centre if possible. If you know of anything, please email Andy on is email@example.com.
We now have a Prayer Station in church, with regularly updated activities to help us to pray in creative ways for various situations. This resource has been set up to bless church family and visitors alike, so please feel free to use it when you come to church. It is located in the quiet corner near the wooden cross to the right of the altar.
BT My Donate is closing down on 30th June 2019. This is the system we have used for online giving for a while, so will mean you can no longer give to the Belfrey in this way.
You can instead give online using this ChurchSuite, which you will find here: https://belfrey.churchsuite.co.uk/donate/. You can also manage your Gift Aid Declaration using this site.
Feel free to contact Melissa.Bryan@belfrey.org if you have any questions or want to discuss other giving options.
