Many congratulations to Lee Kirkby, our Head of Youth and Children's Work at The Belfrey, who has recently been appointed to the Senior Team of St Thomas', the Resource Church for the Diocese of Newcastle, beginning in September.
Lee will be their Resourcing Minister working with Ben Doolan and the rest of the team to grow a church that plants churches across the city and Diocese of Newcastle. Lee's specific role will be to build teams, train and develop leaders and pioneer and create new opportunities for mission and evangelism, especially among children, youth, young adults and families. Lee brings with him nearly 15 years of ministry experience and has a proven track record of resourcing ministry and mission across a wide region.
His current role with us has seen him innovate and create lots of opportunities for people to engage with the good news of Jesus and has seen him oversee and lead the 11am XI morning congregation. Lee has built up a fantastic youth and children's team and has trained and sent out youth workers across the north. He is leaving the ministry in good hands and it remains a key priority for the life of The Belfrey. Lee is also Head of Youth for New Wine England, helping to resource youth ministry nationally through their summer gatherings and locally through regional training events. In 2020 New Wine is launching Luminosity, a new youth festival.
We'll miss not just Lee, but Rachel too, and their wonderful girls - Amara and Phoebe. Rachel has served at The Belfrey for the last 9 years on the children's team and also started and leads the excellent charity, Bundles of Joy in our city.
We give thanks to God for all they've given here. Please pray for them as a family as they finish well at The Belfrey, and prepare for life in Newcastle.
