Dear Church family,
Thank you to everyone who has offered items of furniture or time to clean, paint or garden for the young Bangladeshi family linked to our church with 3 little boys. They really appreciate your kindness and concern. They have most of the things on their list now. As soon as they have a firm date for when the keys are available for their new house Rosie will contact individual volunteers to see when we can go and help make their house a home.
It looks like they will get the keys on 30th November and will have a month to get the house ready. The council will also be there some of the time doing some work so we will have to fit in with their timings. So Rosie will let you know definitely as soon as she knows!
Thanks again to all of you and see you in December!
St Thomas' church is looking for a part-time children's worker.

Riding Lights Theatre Company are looking for hosts to help them look after the actors who come to York for rehearsals and tours. Hosting requires a spare room with a proper bed in it, provision of breakfast and sometimes dinner (by negotiation), and a willingness to let a stranger share your home for a few days or weeks (a sense of humour also helps!). From Raymond and Karen Allen:
We have been members of The Belfrey for many years and we are looking to employ someone to work with a 19-year old young man who has Asperger's syndrome.
This would be for about 6 hours a week over Monday and Wednesday or possibly sometime at a weekend. The young person attends College Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There is some flexibility depending on your availability.
The work will involve:
1. Having fun and engaging the young person in social / sports activities outside the home e.g. Gym, swimming, cycle track or at home on the computer or Wii Console. If he is interested it may also be appropriate to introduce him to your own activity.
2. Helping him develop independence and social skills associated with the activity.
3. Supervising the young person at home while parents are at work.
Ideally you need to have some practical knowledge / experience of Aspergers syndrome. However, being patient and understanding and having a sense of humour will help, alongside a willingness to learn about Autism. Having a car would be helpful as it makes it easier to get to most activities.
We use a company called Salvere recommended by the local authority to manage payroll, insurance and references etc.
If you are interested and would like further information, please contact Raymond Allen via email at email@example.com.
Naomi Watson, one of our New Wine Discipleship Year Interns, is wanting to stay on in York for a few months and is looking for somewhere to lodge from September.
