What is Alpha?
What's life really about? Alpha is open to everyone interested in finding out what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Come and relax, eat, share thoughts and explore the meaning of life. Alpha really is for anyone who's curious. The talks are designed to encourage debate and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, honest and informal setting.
The series lasts for six weeks. Each session we'll share food and watch a film exploring a different aspect of the Christian faith. This is followed by a time of discussion, when guests in small groups can explore their questions and contribute their opinions. No question is too silly, too clever or too hostile!
Our next course will be starting on Wednesday 13 February in the Belfrey Hall (52a Stonegate), so do get in contact if you're interested in finding out more.
Guests come on Alpha for many different reasons; some want to investigate whether God exists and some have questions they’d like to discuss. Many guests have never been to church and others may have attended church but feel they have never had a personal understanding of the Christian faith. Questions ranging from 'Did Jesus even really exist' to 'Why is there pain and suffering in the world?' are all explored so many people simply come to ask questions they don't get to ask anywhere else!
