Dear Church Family
As many of you know, there are some staff and clergy changes coming up at The Belfrey. Greg Downes, our Associate Minister will be moving with Tamie and the girls to Oxford towards the end of the year to begin a new role at Wycliffe Hall. They'll be missed greatly here, but many congratulations to Greg on this appointment. Adam Norton will be finishing as our Youth Worker at the beginning of September, after serving the youth so well over the last three years. Thanks so much Adam! We hope to be able to announce Adam's successor as soon as relevant background checks are done. We've recently welcomed Joy Baxter onto staff (as Head of New Wine Discipleship Year and PA to Associate Minister), Melissa Bryan (as Finance Manager) and Brogan Hume (as Student Worker). And applications are just closing for the Associate Minster (Pastoral) post, for which we'll be interviewing in September.
So please do pray for all these people - both those going and those arriving. I'm so grateful that we have such an excellent staff team at The Belfrey who support, enable and lead us. Their role is to help and equip the rest of us to be Christ's servants in York and the North - as we show and tell of his love. So they're not there to do all the church work (otherwise they'll become a bottleneck to growth). Quite the opposite! They're there to help us to do the work together (see Ephesians 4:11-13).
In August there are no staff meetings and church life is a little quieter as many are resting or at conferences. This is intentional and important for both staff and the wider church. It's part of the rhythm of the year. Please be praying for all who need to be renewed and refreshed over the summer. Please pray that time and space is found, so that we can return in September will fresh vision, passion and love.
