Dear Church Family
What a great evening we had last night at the Christmas Spectacular in St Michael le Belfrey Church! The Carlton Main Frickley Brass Band were absolutely superb and Greg Downes gave a short and suitably seasonal message with humour and challenge. Thanks to Ian McElligott for organising and conducting the concert, which nicely complemented our excellent Minster Carol Service ten days previously. It's a privilege it is to be part of such a gifted and gospel-centred church.
Christmas Day is now only a week or so away! Many of us will be travelling to see family and friends, or having them to stay. Christmas is indeed a time to share with loved ones. But let's also have in mind those who are on their own or have few people to share Christmas with. If you're at home, why not consider inviting someone into your home at Christmas? Maybe someone from church, or a neighbour on your street who's on their own. Many of us do this already but it would be good if across our church we make sure no-one is left out, as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour and show his love with practical care and love.
On Christmas Eve, we have a Nativity Service at 2pm which is for all ages, especially familes. Later that day, at 11.30pm we'll be sharing with York Minster in their Midnight Communion. Then on Christmas Day we'll celebrate with a short Communion Service at 10.30am. If you're here, please do join us for worship as we give glory to the newborn King.
Have a blessed week as we value and share tidings of comfort and joy.
