Dear Church Family
January has been a month of prayer, fasting and preparation for us as a church as we've been asking the Lord for men and women to encounter him.
February and March is now a period of intentional missional activity which needs to be covered in much prayer. We can pray for this with confidence and authority, because 'God desires for all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth' (1 Timothy 2:4). So thank you to everyone who's been praying for this week's York University Christian Union Mission and for Greg and the team as they're been leading this week of evangelistic events. Let's be giving thanks for all those who heard the good news of Jesus on campus, for those who've begun the journey of following him and for those who are seriously consider the life of discipleship.
As a church we're thrilled to be starting soon what we hope will be a truly significant Alpha course in Bar 1331, beginning this Wednesday (15th February) at 7.30pm. As well as praying for this, please be inviting friends and asking if they'll be your guest at the first evening. If you were in church last Sunday you'll have seen the Alpha film which we'll be showing this Wednesday. All these films are really well made, presenting a clear message in an accessible and creative style.
This Sunday is an Invitation Sunday across our church services. That means that all the services will be guest services where an opportunity will be given to begin the life of following Jesus. It's great to have Ed Preston as a special speaker at our morning congregations (9am and 11am) this week, and Greg will be bringing the message at The6 in the evening.
It's wonderful to know Christ and to have opportunities to help others encounter him too. There are many many more in this city and region whom the Lord is calling to follow him this year. Let's resolve to set our hearts on doing all we can to join in God's missional work.
With thanks and God bless.
