Matthew's Message - Friday 4th August 2017

28/7/2017

Dear Church Family

Listen. Trust. Stand. Sing.

I was recently reading the bible story in 2 Chronicles 20, describing the defeat of the Ammonites and Moabites who were attacking Judah, led at that time by King Jehoshophat. Despite the odds looking bleak, they listened, trusted, stood and sang. They listened to God's Word, stood firm, trusted the Lord and sang of his goodness, which resulted in a great victory. It reminded me of the song we sometimes sing at church (called 'King of my heart') which has the refrain: 'You are good!' and includes the line 'You're never going to let me down.' When we go through tough times and it feels like we're battling against difficult circumstances, we too can learn from Jehoshophat and do what the people of Judah did: listen to God's Word, stand firm, trust in Him and sing of his goodness.

Perhaps you know someone or a family who needs to be encouraged today to listen, trust, stand and sing. Why not pray for them? Why not send them a card or message to remind them that they're not in the battle alone? God promises that he will never let us down. He is good.

May his goodness be known in your life, in your family and in your circumstances this summer.

God bless.

Matthew

PS. I'm pleased to add that our Gift Day, which two weeks ago was £15,000 below-target and so extended, now stands at £25,000 over-target. It's great that we're now going to be able to support all the people, projects and organisations as hoped, with some left over. Thank you to everyone who's given. The Lord is indeed good to us!
