Dear Church Family,
It doesn't seem like three months ago that our Vicar, Matthew Porter went off on his Sabbatical and I took the helm as acting Vicar. As the staff team prayed for me at the beginning of the Sabbatical, I joked with them quoting Shakespeare, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown." (Henry VI, act 3, scene 1)
It's been a busy three months, but the role has not been overly burdensome and I have even enjoyed it! Thanks to everyone for their support and a special thanks to our wonderful staff team who have gone the extra mile to ensure that in Matthew's absence we did not stagnate but continue to move forwards fulfilling our mission and mandate.
At the end of this week is New Wine North up in Thirsk and this is Matthew's fist official appointment after his Sabbatical. He will be doing a seminar as well as one of the main sessions alongside many of the Belfrey staff team that are involved in different capacities. Do pray for Matthew as he speaks at this event and then prepares to come back as our Vicar after his time away. Do pray that the Lord might give him wisdom and fill him with His Spirit as he assimilates back to his role as Vicar and leads us into this next exciting chapter of church life.
With love in Christ,
