Acts 435

Acts 435 was inspired by the works of the early church, as described in Acts 4:32-35. The early disciples of the risen Christ shared their possessions and passed the money to the apostles to give to anyone who had need.

Acts 435 was established in York under the patronage of the then Archbishop, John Sentamu, and is now a nationwide charity. It operates online, directly connecting those who want to give with those who are in genuine need, through a network of local churches and charities.

Requests for up to £200 for essential items for those in need – such as replacing broken cookers or washing machines, carpeting, school uniforms, utility or rent arrears – are posted anonymously on the Acts 435 website by church volunteers, known as advocates. These requests are met by online donations, and 100% of the money donated goes to the people in need.

For further details of how Acts 435 works, visit www.acts435.org.uk.

The Belfrey has been an Acts 435 member church since its foundation 10 years ago. Through the Belfrey alone Acts 435 has helped over 600 people, that’s more than one person per week! The advocates who handle requests for help on behalf of the Belfrey, Roger and Rosie Holmes, can be contacted at roger.holmes@belfrey.org.
