ACTS (Activities, Conversations, Teaching, Sharing)

We enjoy fun, friendship, prayer and praise, bible study, walks, picnics, trips out etc. with outreach events at least once a month. Our members come from various areas of York and as far out as Selby and Malton, so we are happy for anyone to join us, although most of us are aged 50 +

Bible Study Group

The group is made up of people aged from mid 60s to 90 years old. It is a Bible Study Group and supports a missionary in Guinea Bissau.

Bishopthorpe, Acaster, South Bank, Woodthorpe Group

We meet in Bishopthorpe on Thursday evenings.  We usually start with a glass of wine (or coffee) and, because we all have to get up for work, we always finish by 9.30 pm.  We see one of our main functions as supporting each other in prayer through the challenges and joys of our lives and in our walk with the Lord.

Central Group

A mixed age group, which meet within a mile of York City Centre.  Our main aim is to use the church shape- worship, discipleship and outreach- to reach out and build each other up.  We also enjoy running social events.  (Isaiah 54 V2-3).

We are a group of mixed ages (20s to 50s), couples and singles, and welcome anyone wishing to join a diverse discipleship group. Our aim is to learn from God and one another and to have a fun and varied time together, both in our meetings and at our social and outreach events - often based around food!

Dunnington Group

Encouraging and challenging each of us to be the fragrance of Christ wherever we are.  Our meetings are a mixture of bible study, prayer, fun and fellowship and occasionally food or an outing!  New members always welcome!

Meeting in various locations but mostly Dringhouses or Acomb, we study the Bible, worship and pray together, sharing cake every week and the occasional meal.  Our group of over 50s – all mature Christians - encompasses a wide range of opinions and experience which results in lively debate.  There’s always room for new opinions!

An afternoon group, all presently retired, but definitely 'young at heart' with an international interest, who try to encourage, support and inspire one another in our walk with God. Do come and join us.

Haxby Morning Star Group

A friendly bunch of folk who meet on Thursday mornings from 10am to 12noon in the Haxby and Wigginton area for Bible study, prayer, mutual support and social activities.

Home Fellowship Group

We meet to encourage one another in our discipleship and personal witness – through bible study, prayer and fellowship (which includes social events eg Christmas dinner, Burns supper, BBQ's etc).

Prayer for healing group

Anyone to come for prayer for healing, in strict confidence. Open to everyone from church or not.

Shipton and Area Belfrey Group

Geographically-based group aiming to our neighbours in the villages where we live - Shipton, Newton on Ouse, Wiggington and Yearsley.

The Acomb Small Group

We meet in various members' homes. We start with a meal followed by studying the Bible, chatting and praying together. We are a mix of ages and stages in our Christian life. Once a month we meet as a larger group – ‘Just Being’ with 3 other small groups, for outreach and social events.

The Barnabas Group

A fun group of mixed ages mainly 30-40 year olds exploring and growing in faith together. Christ centred with lots of laughter. New people are welcome.

The Giant Toads (come along to find out why we're called this!)

Who: Currently a mixture of male, female, 20-40s, parents and young professionals, but we like variety so open to all! 
What: A general meeting comprises of cake and social time, prayer, worship and Bible-based discussion. There is no pressure to lead but we generally take it in turns to each lead an activity so it's a group effort each week.

Wolds Group

We're enjoying the Freedom in Christ course and recently had an away day at Thicket Priory. We enjoy encouraging work in our local churches.

York North

We are a daytime group meeting from 10am-12noon in each other's houses - laughter allowed!  We are small but beautifully formed. We are all retired and grandparents. Age: going backwards
