Bats in the Belfrey

A group for anyone who wants to deepen their relationship with God and enjoys fun, food and friendship.

Bible Study Group

The group is made up of people aged from mid 60s to 90 years old. It is a Bible Study Group and supports a missionary in Guinea Bissau.

Bishopthorpe, Acaster, South Bank, Woodthorpe Group

Our group are all 50's plus, drink wine, and tend to scepticism, with elderly parents. We would not insist on any of this though for anyone else.

Central Group

A mixed age group, which meet within a mile of York City Centre. Our main aim is to use the church shape- worship, discipleship and outreach- to reach out and build each other up. We also enjoy running social events. (Isaiah 54 V2-3).

Church Welcomers Team

The group's aim is to keep St Michael le Belfrey open for active witness to visitors every day from 10am until 4pm. Last year we had 47,642 visitors. There are currently 33 members and we need more (especially ‘regulars’) to fill the 56 hourly slots weekly (68 when we open on Saturdays). We meet together once or twice per year to exchange experiences and update expertise.

Corn Exchange

We aim to follow the format of welcome, worship, study and application. Many of the members provide services in the community and we aim to nurture and support them in prayer and where appropriate by practical help. Most of our group are over 50.

Dringhouses

We are a group of mixed ages (20s to 50s), couples and singles, and welcome anyone wishing to join a diverse discipleship group. Our aim is to learn from God and one another and to have a fun and varied time together, both in our meetings and at our social and outreach events - often based around food!

Dunnington Group

Encouraging and challenging each of us to be the fragrance of Christ wherever we are. Focusing on Bible study and prayer with 20-70 year olds.

An afternoon group, all presently retired, but definitely 'young at heart' with an international interest, who meet for fellowship and mutual support on the west side of York.

Family Food and Friendship Group

We are a group of mixed ages, singles and couples, at various stages of our faith journey. We eat together and then have prayer and bible study – we are currently looking at ‘What’s so amazing about Grace?

For those who want to grow in their faith alongside others, through bible study, prayer, worship and using our gifts to outreach.

Groves Group

New Belfrey Group started in September 2012 actively seeking new members from every background to help shape our direction. We meet each Thursday in the Groves for food, friendship and fellowship. As Christians, we're aiming to reach out to the local community in the Groves as much as we can and support local events given by local organisations such as York St John and Door 84.

Home Fellowship Group

We meet to encourage one another in our discipleship and personal witness – through bible study, prayer and fellowship (which includes social events eg Christmas dinner, Burns supper, BBQ's etc).

Knapton Group

We meet to deepen and strengthen our Christian faith, to encourage and support each other in worship, bible study, prayer and outreach. We support missionaries in Thailand.

Outnumbered

We meet weekly to pray together and read the bible or worship. Between us we have lots of young children. We have regular socials which sometimes include the children and often includes non-Christian partners and friends.

Geographically-based group aiming to our neighbours in the villages where we live - Shipton, Newton on Ouse, Wiggington and Yearsley.

The Acomb Small Group

We start with a meal, followed by studying the bible, chatting and praying together. We are a mix of ages and stages in our Christian life. Once a month we meet as a larger group – ‘Just Being’ with 3 other small groups, for outreach and social events.

We are a mixed aged group from many different backgrounds, we meet around food, build friendships and help each other to build our faith up.

We are a large group but always open to new members as we break down into smaller groups when needed. Currently trialling Bible Study series called Lyfe.
